When it comes to Tsui Hark, most viewers will think of martial arts films. In fact, besides martial arts films, Tsui Hark is also very skilled in creating themes such as suspense, horror, and gunfights. In his long film career, Tsui Hark also created many "trilogy" style film series. Today we will talk about Tsui Hark's eight major films, the "Trilogy".

1. The "Trilogy of Chaos" - "Butterfly Change", "Hell Without Doors", "First Type of Danger"

The "Chaos Trilogy" can be said to be the three works that laid the foundation for Tsui Hark's film style. In 1979, Tsui Hark received recognition from filmmaker Wu Siyuan and officially embarked on his career as a film director. After entering the film industry, Tsui Hark created three works in 1979 and 1980, namely "The Butterfly", "Hell Without a Door", and "The First Type of Danger", commonly known as the "Chaos Trilogy".

Butterfly Change "is the first installment of the" Chaos Trilogy "and also Tsui Hark's directorial debut. This work is adapted from Huang Ying's martial arts novel "Vampire Moth" and tells the story of the conflicts in the martial arts world behind a "butterfly vampire case".

In this film "The Butterfly", Tsui Hark reflects on traditional martial arts films, placing the story in a chaotic era of unrestrained and chaotic order. The portrayal of human nature in the chaotic background has also become a prominent symbol in subsequent Tsui Hark films. In terms of clothing and props, Tsui Hark also broke free from the constraints of traditional martial arts films. His unique character designs and novel artistic style have become a major highlight of this film "Butterfly Change".

After "Butterfly Change", Tsui Hark released two more works in 1980, "Hell Without a Gate" and "The First Type of Danger". Hell Without a Door "tells the story of a cannibal village during the Republic of China period. The first type of danger "tells the story of three high school students in modern cities who, based on the knowledge in textbooks, make bombs and detonate them in public places, causing panic and having fun.

Like 'Butterfly Change', 'Hell Without a Gate' and 'First Type of Danger' both place the story in a chaotic background of moral decay and order breakdown, hence the name 'Chaos Trilogy'. And the novel artistic style has also become a common feature of these three films.

After the "Chaos Trilogy", Tsui Hark's film style began to gradually take shape. "Chaos story background" and "novel art design" became two essential elements in Tsui Hark's film works. Later, "Qiannu Ghost", "New Shu Mountain Swordsman", and "New Dragon Gate Inn" were all like this.

Even from today's perspective, the 'Chaos Trilogy' is still three very good works, especially the second one 'Hell Without a Door'. Friends who have not seen it before are strongly recommended to take a look, and it will definitely not disappoint you.

2. The Trilogy of Heroic Nature - Heroic Nature I, Heroic Nature II, Heroic Nature III

Although the "Chaos Trilogy" was well produced, it was always well received after its release. The dismal box office performance plunged Tsui Hark into a career slump. In 1981, under the introduction of John Woo, Tsui Hark entered the "New Art City",
